Tim Williams-Founder of CJC Adventures, LLC-entered the equestrian world 25 years ago when he moved to New York. While his background has primarily been in the business areas of marketing, research, management and leadership, his early focus was as an industry leader and change agent in the college enrollment/recruiting process. Along that journey he also served in various capacities including collegiate coaching, teaching and the management of several companies and organizations…a true renaissance set of opportunities.
His equestrian experience included positions with several colleges with large equine student populations and industry work through John Madden Sales, the Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament, the World Of Horses Exhibit at the NYS Fair, and the College and Career Fair Program at both the MA and OH Equine Affaire venues. Additional roles included leadership positions for several non-profit organizations including the National Association of Equine Affiliated Academics, the Lorenzo Driving Competition and the EQUUS Foundation. A current partnership and collaboration with the EQUUS Foundation provides the one-of-a-kind Equine Education Network (EEN) resource. As original developer/founder of the original concept and database, Tim serves as the on-going program administrator of this free access to this comprehensive resource.
Tim’s expertise is in research analysis to design strategies and processes to utilize information to solve problems. The launch of Equine Academics occurred as an outcome of one of the results of a NYS equine industry survey in 2014 that indicated a need for a comprehensive database of various equine resources.
His other business ventures leverage his experience and expertise and he is available for consultation and coaching in several different areas…college enrollment options for families; enrollment management expertise for colleges and universities; strategic planning and marketing for equine-related businesses/organizations; and research, planning and solution implementation for equine-related projects.
I am passionate about leaving the corners of the world I touch better than I found them. Most often, those corners fall into two areas - horses and the horse industry, and small business development and innovation. As an educator, I believe we are capable of far more than we imagine and I bring a spirit of enthusiasm and creativity to seeking knowledge and understanding, as well as visualizing and embracing future possibilities.
I have over 30 years’ experience in equine education, career and college advising, policy study, innovation and facilitation. Having served as a tenured full professor in Equine Science & Management and Business Management at Cazenovia College for 28 years, I turned my energy toward the full scope of agriculture and served as an Executive Director for Cornell Cooperative Extension for 4 years. Earlier in my career, I founded the National Association of Equine Affiliated Academics (NAEAA) – a nonprofit organization which builds on the benefits of inter-institutional collaboration by raising the awareness of the equine discipline and promoting and advancing its growth and improvement. I continue to be excited about the untapped career opportunities in the equine industry and the myriad of jobs available to horse enthusiasts. My passion for helping others has led to a host of annual presentations at local, regional and national conferences, seminars, and industry events. Most frequently, I am asked to speak on Equine Behavior; Equine Welfare; Equine End of Life Decisions; and College and Career opportunities in the Equine Industry. Most recently, my work in small business development using ‘kickbox innovation’ has generated additional opportunities including using my knowledge and experiences as a certified SCORE small business mentor. My passion to help others resonates through one-on-one mentoring, seminars, clinics and group facilitation.
